An Ashland man has died after being injured in a suspected drunken-driving crash Saturday night in Central Point.
Sean Michael Cyr, 22, died Monday at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center, according to a release from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
The crash occurred at about 10:40 p.m. Saturday in the 1900 block of Kirtland Road, near the intersection with High Banks Road. A sedan was found on its top, with debris scattered for hundreds of feet, the release said.
Investigators believe the 2004 Pontiac sedan left the rain-slicked roadway and rolled multiple times. It took several minutes for first responders to locate the driver, later identified as Cyr, who had been ejected and landed in thick brush, the release said. Mercy Flights medics transported him to RRMC.
Personnel from Jackson County Fire District 3 extricated a passenger, Chance Christopher Bullard, 24, of Central Point. Bullard also was transported to RRMC by Mercy Flights ambulance. He remained in the intensive care unit this morning.
No other vehicles were involved. Deputies believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, the release said.
