Local Ashlander Harold “Bob” Burns turned 90 on July 26. He has been a well-known man-about-town for the past 15 years while writing a soon-to-be published book about the relationship between humans and animals, specifically large dogs.
Most locals recognize Bob by his large bearing, distinctive, friendly personality, and keen political observations.
Born in Berkeley, California, he received his master’s degree at UC-Santa Barbara. After a stint with the Army in Korea, he went on to a career with the federal government, during which time he exposed gender bias in Oregon banking.
Bob is a regular at the Ashland Public Library and enjoys engaging in political discourse, so be sure and say “hi” next time you stop in.
