The park was alive with the sound of music

The great lawn at the Butler Bandshell in Lithia Park was nearly filled to capacity Thursday night for Ashland City Band’s first concert of the season. Though forecasts can be iffy in late spring, the weather was clear and breezy. An Ashland musical tradition over 100 years in the making, concerts in the park draw fans of all ages to hear programs of marches, overtures, Broadway tunes, big band numbers and more. The free concerts continue every Thursday evening at 7 p.m. through Aug. 16, with small ensemble performances for early birds at 6:15.
