'Save the Rain'

Southern Oregon University, ECOS and Save the Rain will hold a benefit concert to help save the lives of 80,000 African people who are trying to survive the water crisis.




The Third Annual Rain Dance Benefit event will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, in Britt Ballroom, Southern Oregon University, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland.




The evening will feature Baka Beyond, the international Afro-Celtic band. The evening also will include a slide show presentation from Save the Rain, food, a silent auction, a raffle for a chance to win a 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid 4x4 and other prizes.




Save the Rain teaches water-starved communities to harvest the rain as a sustainable water supply.




Tickets are $15 general admission and $5 for SOU students. Proceeds will fund Save the Rain's projects in Uganda and Tanzania. Tickets are available at the Ashland Outdoor Store, SOU's Raider Aid, Ashland. See , or call 530-926-9999.
