'The Playful Violin'

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival will play host to "The Playful Violin," a concert with violinist Robert Dubow, accompanied by Jennifer Schloming. The event will take place at noon, Saturday, Aug. 16, at Carpenter Hall, 15 S. Pioneer St., Ashland.

The program of classical music will feature works by Kreisler, Gershwin, Chopin, Saint-Saens and Bloch.

Dubow has performed as soloist with several orchestras in the New York City area, and the Jalapa Symphony, Mexico. He played for 10 years as concertmaster in the Rogue Valley Symphony and concertmaster with Jalapa Symphony, Orchestra at Manhattan School or Music, Mannes School of Music, Goldovsky Opera Tour out of New York, and others.

Dubow was a studio musician in Los Angeles for 15 years before coming to the Rogue Valley, where he played for 12 seasons with OSF's Green Show.

Tickets are $9 for adults and $6.75 for ages 17 and under. Tickets are available at the OSF box office.
