Allison Scull & Victor Martin

Allison Scull's sultry vocals and rhythmic guitar grooves perfectly paired with Victor Martin's lyrical saxophone lines are the makings of this dynamic duo.

The couple, based out of Dunsmuir, Calif., play up and down the West Coast and will perform at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at Grass Shack Hawaiian Cafe, 205 Fern Valley Road, Phoenix.

Scull was raised in Belgium and then California. Before converting to jazz, she was a folk artist. Martin grew up on the East Coast. He began playing sax in middle school and later toured with the 9th Infantry Rock Band, while based with the Army in Fort Lewis, Wash.

Together, the duo has released three albums of original smooth jazz — "From the Back Burner" (2002), "Allison Scull and Victor Martin Live" (2006) and "Cool Like the Breeze" (2010).

The show at Grass Shack is free. Reservations are recommended. Call 541-512-8969.
