Concerts in the Park
Rockabilly band Gino and the Gunmen, featuring guitarist Gino Meregillano, will perform at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 5, at Bear Creek Amphitheater in Bear Creek Park, Siskiyou Boulevard and Highland Drive, Medford. Admission is free.
Five-piece string band St. Cinder will play folk, ragtime and New Orleans jazz at 11 a.m. Friday, June 29, at La Baguette Music Cafe, 340 A St., Ashland, 541-482-0855. The band members happened to meet about four years ago in Ashland. Admission is free.
The Oregon Shakespeare Festival will host a preface talk offering an interactive, in-depth introduction to “Othello” at noon Saturday, June 30, at Carpenter Hall on the OSF campus, 44 S. Pioneer St., Ashland. Admission is $12, $8 for ages 6 through 17. Call 541-482-4331 or see osfashland.org.
‘When America Came of Age’
This musical review by Ed Miller tells the story of America at the turn of the 20th century when automobiles, planes, phonographs, the first movies and President Teddy Roosevelt were the talk of the day. Kacie Bowers sings a lineup of patriotic songs by George M. Cohan, Irving Berlin, hits from early Broadway and comic numbers from vaudeville. Miller narrates. Shows are set for 7 p.m. Saturday, June 30, and 2 p.m. Sunday, July 1, and Wednesday, July 4, at Randall Theatre, Medford: 10 E. Third St., Medford. Seattle flamenco dancer Savannah Fuentes and the Jefferson Classical Guitar Society will present “Feria,” a celebration of dance and music that embraces the Andalusian culture of southern Spain, at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 30, at the United Church of Christ, 717 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland. Fuentes will be joined by Spanish-Romani guitarist Pedro Cortes and singer and percussionist Jose Moreno. VIP tickets are $33, general seating is $20, $15 for students with ID, and $7 for children.
