First Friday art walk in Ashland

New exhibits highlight the First Friday art walk in Ashland's downtown and Railroad District. The monthly art walk will be held from 5 to 8 p.m.

Art-walk maps are available at the galleries and at the Ashland Chamber of Commerce. Visitors will find opportunities to meet the artists, watch art demonstrations, hear live music and enjoy refreshments at some of the galleries.

The following galleries are members of the Ashland Gallery Association:

AMERICAN TRAILS: 27 N. Main St.,, 541-488-2731. Pottery, prints, baskets and jewelry in American Indian themes, along with live music by the Four Corners Duo.

ART AND SOUL GALLERY: 247 E. Main St.,, 541-488-9006. "Precious Memories," a collection of watercolor paintings by Dodie Hamilton-Brandon and dulcimer music by Douglas Ross.

ART FX: 45 E. Main St., 541-482-1499. Fine custom jewelry, glass and ceramic art by various artists and refreshments.

ASHLAND ART CENTER: 357 E. Main St.,, 541-301-5975. Watercolor and pastel drawings by Joseph Crowell, pastel and acrylic paintings by Maggie Bezuhly and the Winter Gift Fair, featuring handmade gift items by 16 local artists, as well as live music by vocalist and keyboardist Christine Anderson and guitarist Andrew Peek. Open artist studios and refreshments on the second floor and basement of the studio.

ASHLAND ART WORKS: 291 Oak St.,, 541-488-4735. Ashland Art Works' annual holiday gift show, featuring jewelry, artwork, ornaments and seasonal decorations by local artists and artisans.

BOHEMIA GALLERY AND FRAMING: 552 A St.,, 541-488-5227, an art lounge, framery, gift shop and live performance venue. "Pathways to Printmaking," featuring works by Barbara Bruckman, Cathy DeForest, Holly Kilpatrick, Julie Vandenberg and Dave Isner.

CONCETTI FINE ARTS: 40 N. Main St.,, 541-601-0963. "A Walk on the Wild Side," featuring lion-themed oil paintings by Sandy Cathcart; mosaic art by Katherine Sloan; and handmade gift items by local artisans, as well as live music, wine and hors d'oeuvres.

HANSON HOWARD GALLERY: 82 N. Main St.,, 541-488-2562.The annual Holiday Salon, featuring work by gallery artists. The show will be the last at the gallery's present location.

HOUSTON'S CUSTOM FRAMING AND FINE ART: 270 E. Main St.,, 541-482-1983. An exhibit by gallery artists, including Russell Chatham, Mayumi Oda, Sarah Waldron, Yuji Hiratsuka and others.
