Ashland drops second straight to open league

EAGLE POINT — Devin Bradd rushed for 186 yards and three touchdowns, Noah Page had 136 yards receiving and two scores and the Eagle Point Eagles used a 21-point barrage in the second quarter to take control and beat Ashland 52-17 in a Midwestern League rivalry game Saturday at Eagle Stadium.

After a scoreless opening quarter Bradd ran in from the 1 and the 7, and Cameron Morgan threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Carlos Seiter to give the Eagles (4-1, 1-1 MWL) a 21-3 halftime lead.

Ashland’s Eriq Rodriguez scored on a 10-yard run early in the third quarter, but the Eagles outscored Ashland 25-0 over the next 12 minutes, extending their lead to 46-10 on a 51-yard touchdown pass from Morgan to Page.

Also for the Eagles, who topped the 40-point mark for the third time this season, Devin Foulon scored on a 28-yard interception return and Bradd scored on a 32-yard run. Morgan completed 11 of 19 passes for 209 yards and three touchdowns without an interception.

For Ashland (2-3, 0-2), Rieger Sayre completed 18 of 27 passes for 149 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, and DaMario Watson rushed for 52 yards.

ASHLAND 4, THURSTON 4: At Ashland, Ashland had a two-goal lead until Thurston scored twice in the final 10 minutes, including the tying goal with a minute left in the Midwestern League match.

Sam Austin scored in the 18th minute on a pass from Davidson Graham to put the Grizzlies (5-2-1, 3-0 MWL) up first. Graham tallied four minutes later on a Noah Aguilar pass for a 2-0 halftime lead.

After Thurston tied it, Aguilar scored in the 55th, and Scott Gustafson punched in a penalty kick in the 62nd.

Michael Holden played strong defense for Ashland.

Prep Girls Soccer

THURSTON 3, ASHLAND 2: At Ashland, Lily Annen scored both Ashland goals — the second was a 64th-minute score that brought the Grizzlies within one but were unable to complete the Midwestern League comeback.

Annen’s penalty kick tied the match in the 13th minute and her late goal came on an assist from Luna Wilhelm.

Goalkeeper Nina Munson made several stops on Thurston breakaways for the Grizzlies (1-6-1, 0-2-1).

The Colts jumped to 5-3-1 overall and 2-1 in MWL play.

Prep Volleyball

ASHLAND DROPS TWO: At Ashland, Churchill and Willamette each picked up straight-set Midwestern League victories over Ashland at Mountain Avenue Gym.

Churchill beat Ashland 25-17, 25-15, 25-9, and Willamette beat Ashland 25-4, 25-11, 25-17.

The Grizzlies dropped to 3-9 overall and 3-7 in league.
