Southern Oregon's Autumn Durand was named the Cascade Conference women's basketball player of the week Monday.
The senior forward averaged 21.3 points and 9.3 rebounds and shot 51 percent from the field to lead the fourth-ranked Raiders to three wins, including a comeback victory over Northwest on Sunday and a 22-point victory over NCAA Division II Western Oregon.
Durand hit 9 of 17 field goals and 8 of 9 free throws on her way to a 28-point night against Northwest, helping SOU storm back from a 16-point deficit and avoid an upset. She also had eight rebounds, three steals and two blocks for the Raiders, who are 11-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play.
Durand had 18 points and 10 rebounds against Evergreen State on Saturday and 18 points and 10 boards against Western Oregon.
The Raiders are off until a Dec. 30 game against Multnomah.
Ashland High School's scavenger hunt team won the 2016 State of Jefferson High School Academic Scavenger Hunt, which took place Dec. 6-8 and Dec. 14 at Southern Oregon University.
Ashland, coached by Dana Rensi, edged second-place finisher Logos Public Charter School with 129 points. Logos Public Charter School finished with 128 and and third-place finisher Phoenix High scored 120.
Over 260 students representing 11 high schools participated in the event, and over 140 students participated in the day of the adjudication. Also competing were teams from Crater, Eagle Point, North and South Medford and Grants Pass.
Ashland High also placed first in last year's State of Jefferson scavenger hunt.
