Durand named player of the week

Southern Oregon's Autumn Durand was named the Cascade Conference women's basketball player of the week Monday.

The senior forward averaged 21.3 points and 9.3 rebounds and shot 51 percent from the field to lead the fourth-ranked Raiders to three wins, including a comeback victory over Northwest on Sunday and a 22-point victory over NCAA Division II Western Oregon.

Durand hit 9 of 17 field goals and 8 of 9 free throws on her way to a 28-point night against Northwest, helping SOU storm back from a 16-point deficit and avoid an upset. She also had eight rebounds, three steals and two blocks for the Raiders, who are 11-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play.

Durand had 18 points and 10 rebounds against Evergreen State on Saturday and 18 points and 10 boards against Western Oregon.

The Raiders are off until a Dec. 30 game against Multnomah.
