Grizz girls stumble at North Eugene

At Eugene, Kelly O’Malley scored 14 points and North Eugene outscored Ashland 16-7 in the second quarter to take control in its way to a 50-24 Midwestern League victory Friday at North Eugene High School.

Maddy Carrier added 12 points for the Highlanders (5-9, 2-3 MWL), who trailed after the opening quarter but dominated the rest of the game.

Freshman post Malia Rodriguez led the Grizzlies (4-9, 1-4) with nine points.

“We didn’t execute,” Ashland coach Antione Perry said. “We started turning the ball over a lot, making bad passes. It’s the life of a young team.”
