Seniors Tanner Fischer and Max Hane built on their impressive resumes with back-to-back pins to end Southern Oregon’s 30-16 win against Simpson (Calif.) on Thursday night in a Cascade Conference dual at Riehm Arena.
The 18th-ranked Raiders (5-6 overall) took four of five contests during the matchup. They forfeited two classes, the Red Hawks conceded two and there was a double forfeit at 133.
Fischer, SOU’s fourth-ranked 197-pounder, put Jacob Gonsalves on his back within moments and earned the fall whistle 35 seconds into their bout. Fischer brought his record to 18-4 with a 9-1 mark in dual action.
Hane, the No. 20-ranked heavyweight in the NAIA, didn’t need much longer to finish off Victor Moore. His pin in 1:42 made him 8-2 in duals this season.
Elsewhere for the Raiders, Justin Coon won for the second time in as many outings with a 9-5 defeat of Silas LaGroue at 141 pounds. At 165, Cody Stahl controlled Layten Briggs for a 2-0 victory.
