23-Year-Old Taken Into Custody After Shooting Incident in a Hillsboro Parking Lot

HILLSBORO, Ore. — Heriberto Tapia Naranjo (23) was taken into custody yesterday (Sunday) after a shooting incident the previous day at the Fred Meyer store parking lot at Century Boulevard and Tualatin Valley Highway in Hillsboro.

Naranjo is charged with second-degree attempted murder, second-degree assault, and the unlawful use of a weapon.

The shooting occurred at around 4.45 a.m. on Saturday at the parking lot between downtown Hillsboro and Aloha.

When they arrived on the scene, police found an unnamed injured victim who was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

No further details about the victim have been released.

Witnesses said they saw a red pickup truck fleeing the scene that was later found a few miles from the scene of the shooting on the Sunset Esplanade with a flat tire and a broken window.
