60-Year-Old Oregon Man Faces Multiple Charges After Evading a State Trooper
Five charges could be brought against Martin Raymond Moreno (60) of Eugene, who smashed into another vehicle after allegedly disobeying a state trooper’s request to stop.
A Two-Car Collision Ended with Admission to Hospital
The incident occurred on November 21 and ended with Moreno smashing into another vehicle. Both he and that driver were admitted to River Bend Hospital, where they were treated for non-threatening injuries.
Moreno now faces the possibility of standing trial on charges of eluding an officer by vehicle, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, first-degree criminal mischief, and third-degree assault, according to Oregon State Police (OSP).
The OSP states that the driver of a silver sedan allegedly drove away when the trooper tried to pull him over. The attempted stop was made on North Terry Street. The driver left the scene by turning into Barger Drive and continuing northbound on Green Hill Road.
No car chase was involved. The trooper followed in the direction Moreno had taken and came across a two-vehicle collision at the Clear Lake and Green Hill roads intersection.
It is also alleged that Moreno’s vehicle struck a power pole, damaging a transformer that disabled traffic signals.
