KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — Amazon, the online retail giant, has been opening new fulfillment centers across Oregon and has recently purchased property that will see a new delivery station in Klamath Falls. This comes after the company recently purchased land in Central Point earmarked for a warehouse.
Amazon Property In Klamath Falls
Property records dated May 29 this year indicate that a 7.38-acre parcel of land at 6250 Altamont Drive was purchased by Amazon. This follows the purchase of property near Kingsley Field for over $1.5 million.
Situated across from the northern side of Kingsley Field’s runway, housing a NORAD Aerospace Control Alert (ACA) structure, and home to Oregon National Guard’s 173rd Fighter Wing air base, the property is located along the western side of a curve in Altamont Drive. Seattle-based Amazon will now have the City of Klamath Falls as its northern and eastern neighbors.
Amazon’s Klamath Falls Delivery Station
With 6 fulfillment and sortation centers and 8 delivery stations already in Oregon, Amazon’s robotics fulfillment center is also under construction in their massive new Woodburn warehouse in Northwest Oregon.
The new Klamath Fall’s delivery station will be about 20,000 square feet when built and construction is scheduled to start this summer. Amazon’s delivery stations hold delivery packages from their fulfillment and sortation centers. At the stations, employees then process customers’ packages for last-mile delivery.
The manager of economic development at Amazon, Easton Craft, said the company is excited to bring a delivery station to Klamath Falls as it will better serve their local customers. He indicated that Amazon is grateful for its partnership with Pure Development and the Klamath County Economic Development Association (KCEDA) and will share more details about the facility in the future.
Jonathan Teichert, Klamath Falls City Manager, said the city is pleased to have Amazon join the community and “believe this facility is a great indication of the progress our economy continues to make.”
