Annual open house welcomes lifelong learners
OSHER LIFELONG LEARNING INSTITUTE
Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Southern Oregon University hosts its third annual open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, at Stevenson Union at 1118 Siskiyou Blvd. on the Southern Oregon University campus in Ashland.
Attendees can preview more than 125 courses slated for the 2016 fall term, meet OLLI instructors, enjoy free desserts, and meet with representatives from other quality-of-life organizations in Southern Oregon that cater to adults aged 50 and older.
This year’s keynote address, titled “How to Bring Out the Best in People (Even at Their Worst),” will be presented at 2:30 p.m. by best-selling author and speaker Dr. Rick Kirschner.
Exhibitors from 20 community nonprofits will be available to talk about how they satisfy the mental curiosity and social connectivity of older adults.
Co-sponsoring the event are Rogue Valley Manor, Asante, Southern Oregon Media Group, and AARP Oregon.
Exhibitors will include American Association of University Women of Ashland and Medford, Age Friendly Innovators, Ashland at Home, Ashland New Plays Festival, Ashland Parks & Recreation, Camelot Theatre, Chamber Music Concerts, Community Volunteer Network, Jackson County Library System, League of Women Voters, Oregon Center for the Arts, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, OSU Extension, Rogue Valley Community Television, RVCOG Senior & Disability Services, Rogue Valley Symphony, Schneider Museum of Art, ScienceWorks, Southern Oregon Historical Society, Southern Oregon Friends of Hospice and Southern Oregon University.
Free parking is available in SOU Lot 36 off South Mountain Avenue.
