Dunn had initially sped off in a car stolen in Curry County before evading police, who caught up with him the next day.

Coos Bay Man Arrested After Standoff Following Police Chases

Dunn sped off in a car stolen from the Curry County area on Wednesday as Coos Bay Police Department (CBPD) officers attempted to arrest him.

Police tried to chase Dunn down twice that day, but Dunn’s reckless driving put the public in danger. Dunn first sped through a school zone during a school day and later sped through a residential area, blowing through traffic signals.

The officers received word that Dunn had a gun and intended to resist arrest by any means.

The crashed car was found in North Bend after the second chase, but Dunn fled before officers arrived.

Coos Bay police arrived at Dunn’s home at about 3:15 p.m. the next day and confirmed he was inside before serving a search warrant. CBPD said they made announcements and deployed their drone team before going in.

Several people left the house, but Dunn had barricaded himself in the basement with a gun.

The Oregon State Police SWAT Team was called in to assist, and searched the home upon their arrival. Dunn was eventually found and arrested after an hours-long standoff without further incident.

Due to a lack of space at the Coos County Jail, Dunn was placed in the custody of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office to be taken to the Douglas County Jail.

Dunn faces charges of eluding the police in a vehicle, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, reckless driving, and third-degree escape.

It was also established that he faces other charges in Douglas County, including possession of a stolen vehicle, eluding the police in a vehicle, first-degree theft, attempt to commit a felony, and failure to perform the duties of a driver (property damage).
