Ashland Residents Survey On 2200 Ashland Street Emergency Shelter

The public forum follows a council meeting held in March where councilors heard from residents at a study session before deciding on whether to accept state funds that could extend shelter operations at 2200 Ashland St.Arising from the governor’s emergency order, new state funds were made available to keep shelters open.

The state funds were earmarked to include 30 beds but the building is a commercial structure so this may not be feasible. An architect would be required to assess the building- often the only severe weather shelter open because of Ashland’s softer temperature thresholds.

A meeting has been scheduled about the master plan for the building at 2200 Ashland St. The details are:

Venue: Ashland Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at 87 4th Street

Date: Next Wednesday, October 9, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. (Doors open at 5 p.m.)

The meeting is an opportunity to learn more about the proposed plans, ask questions, and share feedback with the city.

The city of Ashland has also encouraged members of the public to complete a survey which will be available online from the morning of Friday, October 4, until Friday, October 11, 2024, for Ashland residents to complete the survey.

Find the survey here.
