Ashland Main Street And Lithia Way Paving Starts On Monday

ASHLAND, Ore — Traffic on Ashland’s Main Street will be disrupted on Monday, September 30, and Tuesday, October 1 next week as a team from the Oregon Department of Transport (ODOT)  and the City of Ashland pave Main Street from 3rd to Maple Streets, and a section of Lithia Way.

Lane Closures: Main Street and Lithia Way

The collaboration between ODOT and the city has scheduled a grind-and-inlay paving method- a more intensive process than chip or crack sealing. The teams will remove the top layer of damaged or deteriorated asphalt, followed by replacement with a new layer of asphalt.

The ODOT announcement of September 24 confirmed that the planned paving would affect:

  • Monday, September 30: The southbound lanes of North and East Main St, aka Highway 99, between Maple and Third Streets, are scheduled for grinding and paving
  • Tuesday, October 1: The northbound lanes of Lithia Way and Main Street from Third to Maple Streets are scheduled for roadworks.

For these two days, there will be daytime lane closures and a temporary closure for some parking spaces within the two-mile work area.  Crews will be active between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. and there will be a single-lane closure during this period over the active work zone.

For one day, several downtown parking spaces will be closed but they will be clearly marked the day before the closure.

Asante Ashland Community Hospital will not be affected but travelers are advised to plan for a short delay due to traffic congestion. Weather conditions may affect the planned work.
