Ashland Man Arrested: Multiple Shots Fired Leaving Woman Injured

ASHLAND, Ore. — The Ashland Police Department (APD) responded to reports of a shooting incident at 5:49 p.m. on Monday evening, during which a woman was shot inside an apartment complex.

Multiple shots were fired, and APD called for assistance from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office’s SWAT Team.

 

Ashland Shooting Incident Update

A shooter was arrested in Ashland on Monday night at the 40-Block of Alida Street. The Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon (ECSO)received 911 calls from residents reporting a male in the complex had fired a gun and was making homicidal statements.

The APD responded and, on arrival, were shot at by a man who then fled back inside the apartment. The APD were joined by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team after calling for assistance.

Upon arrival of the SWAT team, two additional shots from within the apartment were heard, almost immediately followed by another 911 call to ECSO from a woman inside the apartment who told dispatchers she had been shot.

The suspect exited the apartment as officers were making their way in to extract the injured woman in a rescue operation. The suspect, later identified as Cory A. Davison, 49, of Ashland, made suicidal and homicidal statements and challenged officers to shoot him.

 

Life-saving efforts by Ashland Fire & Rescue

Davison refused to obey commands, and as a result, police deployed a conducted energy weapon (taser). Additional officers with medical equipment entered the apartment as officers placed Davison into custody.

Life-saving efforts were initiated for the female victim, who had been shot twice. She was transported to Rogue Regional Medical Center by Ashland Fire & Rescue, and police report that she is in stable condition.

Davison was lodged at the Jackson County Jail on charges of Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree, Assault in the 2nd Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Domestic Violence.
