Californian Pedestrian Dies in Foggy Josephine County Crash on Highway 199
A Californian pedestrian, Buck Carlos Gene Arby Ward (58) of Crescent City, died after being struck by a pickup truck on Highway 199, near milepost 16, in Josephine County early on Wednesday morning.
The Oregon State Police, assisted by Illinois Valley Fire, responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Highway 199.
Their preliminary investigation indicates that a northbound Ford F-150, operated by Ethan Wayne Anderson (36) of Cave Junction, struck Ward, who was in the roadway for unknown reasons. Anderson was not injured, but Ward was declared deceased at the scene.
Weather conditions- specifically fog- are being considered a contributing factor to the crash.
