Condition of Oregon Woman Pulled from Burning Car Could Not be Established

The condition of a woman pulled out of a flaming car by Portland police on Monday night could not be established at the time of going to press.

The one-car accident happened at 9 p.m. at Southeast Mt Scott Boulevard and Southeast 112th Avenue.

When officers from the East Precinct of the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) arrived on the scene, they saw that the front of the vehicle was engulfed by flames and could hear small explosions.

The female driver was trapped in the vehicle. She had contacted 911, saying she was pinned inside the car.

 

Firefighters from Portland Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene and smashed the windscreen of the vehicle to enable them to pull the driver to safety.  The woman (47), from Portland, was taken to hospital in a serious condition. She is facing DUI and reckless driving citations.
