Coos County Woman Arrested After Allegedly Assaulting Her Boyfriend

A 45-year-old Coos County woman is in jail for allegedly trying to strangle her boyfriend during a domestic altercation on Monday night.

A Coos County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) deputy responded to a call at 8.30 p.m. on Monday. A man told dispatchers that his girlfriend had assaulted and strangled him while their child was present.

The deputy went to a home in Crown Point Road home where the victim told him that his girlfriend, Amy Holt, had attempted to strangle him by twisting a glass bead necklace that he was wearing.

He said he had battled to breathe and became light-headed. The alleged assault left scratches and red marks on the victim’s neck. The deputy heard that Holt had also allegedly tried to kick her boyfriend.

Holt was taken into custody and transported to Coos County Jail. She is facing charges of domestic strangulation, unlawful use of a weapon, and harassment.
