Elderly Brookings Woman’s Jeep Plunges Off Highway 255 in Fatal Curry County Crash
CURRY COUNTY, Ore. — Responding to reports of a single-vehicle fatal crash in Curry County on Thursday at about 5:11 p.m., the Oregon State Police (OSP), assisted by the Curry County Sheriff’s Office, Brookings Fire Department, the Oregon Department of Transportation, and CAL-ORE, established that the driver, Virginia Gayle Peare (81) of Brookings, unfortunately, did not survive the accident.
OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated a northbound black Jeep Wagoneer driven by Ms. Peare left the roadway for an unknown reason before rolling down an embankment on Hwy. 255 near milepost 360. The first report was received from an automated alert system from her car.
Ms was declared deceased at the scene, but the highway was not affected by the on-scene investigation.
