On the fringe of field goal range and with just six nail-biting seconds to go, the Ducks defeated the Buckeyes 32-31.

Rather than kicking a field goal, Ohio State elected to run another play, but the clock ran out before quarterback Will Howard could complete the play.

The star amongst the other stars in the Ducks team, quarterback Dillon Gabriel won the DucksWire Player of the Game in a game with many highlights that included:

  • Dillon Gabriel may not have played a perfect game as evidenced by his 68% completion, but he made the important moments matter. Of the four touchdowns scored by Oregon, Gabriel was responsible for three and finished the game with 23/34 passes completed for 341 yards and rushed for 32 yards.
  • Two of Gabriel’s passing touchdowns were a spectacular ball thrown to Evan Stewart in the corner of the end zone and then batted in a long bomb to Tez Johnson, the Ducks’ speed demon.
  • Gabriel’s other touchdown was a 27-yard option play. He made two Buckeyes miss and ambled into the end zone to put Oregon ahead at 29-28 in the fourth quarter.
  • Despite it not being his best stats, this was Gabriel’s best performance alongside spectacular games by Tez Johnson, Evan Stewart, and Jordan James, and the front seven showed up in big moments.
