Over 50% Of Players In Southern Oregon Golf Tournament Eliminated
MEDFORD, Ore. — By the third day of match play at Rogue Valley Country Club (RVCC), less than half the original 416 players remain in the running in the Southern Oregon Golf Championship (SOGC) which is still underway.
Golf Tournament In Rogue Valley
The event ends on Monday and the players in the tournament have a chance to win the $2,000 grand prize during the putting contest. The competition between players is not just for the prize and there is a competitive spirit on the course.
Despite Saturday’s extremely hot weather, players and spectators at RVCC saw swinging clubs and high-flying golf balls. The SOCG uses a unique format of play that allows players from around the country to participate in the event and experience the level of skill and competition it offers.
Rogue Valley Country Club Tournament Offers A Unique Format
First-time participant, Colin Huber likes the rare golf play style. The event caught his attention and he doesn’t plan on missing out on it in the near future. Huber said he isn’t aware of any other tournament where after qualifying there are five days of match play. This is rare in golf tournaments, and it really tests players’ skills as an individual.
Huber plans to attend every year and said the tournament is so good that there’s no way he will miss it again. The Rogue Valley Country Club hosts a unique event and is good for the players. Huber remarked that if any golfers are keen to try competitive golf, “This is a really good place to start.”
