A man from Spokane, Washington, who became lost on Thursday in thick fog while descending from Oregon’s Mount Hood was found alive and unharmed yesterday.
Became Separated from a Friend in Thick Fog
Brendan Davis (26) ascended Mt. Hood with a friend from Timberline Lodge. After reaching the summit they became separated on the descent in thick fog.
Search and rescue teams immediately started looking for Davis, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.
Yesterday, one of the teams made voice contact with David near the Paradise Park Trailhead. Davis – stuck in difficult terrain – was rescued at 2.45 p.m. and managed to hike back to the trailhead where his family was waiting.
Search teams consisted of the Portland Mountain Rescue, Clackamas, Mountain Wave, and Pacific Northwest search-and-rescue teams and the Hood River Crag Rats. An airplane and helicopter from the Air National Guard and members of the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office also took part in the search.
