Former Rogue River Teacher Charged with Multiple Counts of Sex Abuse Involving Student

JACKSON COUNTY, Ore — A Rogue Christian Academy teacher charged with sex abuse, r*pe, and s*domy, is being held in the Jackson County Jail.

Jesse Rex Orndoff (30) was taken into custody on Friday night for sexually abusing a former student of the Rogue River Junior-Senior High School where he was working at the time.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, an investigation was launched on 13 February after a complaint was received from the student.

The Student was Between the Ages of 15 and 17

The abuse allegedly took place when the student was between the ages of aged 15 and 17.

Both schools are cooperating with the Sheriff’s Office, as well as the Rogue River School District (RRSD) which has confirmed its cooperation in the ongoing investigation.

RRSD superintendent, Patrick Lee says students and staff are devasted by the news of the abuse and says the district will provide counseling tomorrow (Tuesday) when schools reopen.

RRSD also plans to offer additional counseling, together with members from the local Sexual Crisis Response Team who will advise support methods at local schools.

Lee says the district is committed to the safety of students, adding that employees are trained annually to identify and prevent child abuse and acts of sexual misconduct. Mandatory reporting requirements are also in place.

The Teacher Coached High School Track

While employed at the two schools in the district, Orndoff coached high school track and assisted with wrestling. He was also an advisor for the robotics club. He served as the athletic director for the district in his final year of employment.

According to the RRSD, Orndoff resigned last year after accepting a position at another school.

Orndoff, from Salem, is charged with 10 counts each of second-degree sex abuse, and third-degree r*pe and s*domy.
