MEDFORD, Ore. — The Medford City Council Approved Council Bill 2024-128 on Thursday, December 5, creating funds for the construction of Fire Station 15, which is currently in poor condition.
Medford Fire Station 15 Awarded Fund From Fire Facilities Construction Fund
A new set of appropriations for the 2023-25 biennium has been approved by the City of Medford, creating Fund 150, known as the Fire Facilities Construction Fund. Over $6.5 million has already been appropriated for the fund.
The city’s appropriated funds are already in city accounts or funds and are either moved to a different fund or designated for a specific purpose.
The city inspected all fire stations in 2023. The condition of the stations was assessed, and the stations were graded. Fire Station 15, which is over 50 years old, was rated as in poor condition. It was given a D, the worst grade, while three other stations received an A, and a fourth scored a B.
A large share of the fund has been allocated to the construction of Fire Station 15 situated on Roberts Road next to North Medford High School.
$4 million was appropriated by the city from the general fund and funds have also been raised from the sale of bonds.
