Gold Beach High School Parents Seek Clarity On Ex-Pupil’s List Targeting Classmates

CURRY COUNTY, Ore. — Gold Beach Police investigated threats at Gold Beach Jr./Sr. High School on Wednesday following the discovery of a list of classmate names that contained threats compiled by a student no longer enrolled at the school.

Police Search Gold Beach High School

Students were held in their classrooms on Wednesday as the school was placed on hold as Gold Beach Police and designated school personnel searched common areas and lockers for weapons.

This follows the discovery of threats on a list of classmates and one adult not affiliated with the school or school district.

Central Curry School District indicated that an investigation and threat assessment conducted by Gold Beach Police and the Curry County Juvenile Department found that the student had no access to a weapon.

No weapons were found on campus. The school district has reached out to the students who were listed as potential targets of the suspect and their families.

The parents of the students confirmed the list was found at the school on September 30, but they weren’t notified until the next morning. Jamie Nourse, whose children are enrolled in Central Curry School District 1, was concerned that attention was only brought to the list 24 hours after its discovery.

Parents had sent their children to Gold Beach High School- just like any other day, not expecting any type of threat.

This is a developing story. Further details will be published as they are made available.
