Grants Pass Man Arrested for Brutal Murder of Roy Harvey After Weeks on the Run
GRANTS PASS, Ore. — A 30-year-old Grants Pass man, James Ross, a suspect in the death of 57-year-old Roy Harvey, was arrested on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at about 3:00 pm at the Robertson Bridge Boat Landing.
Ross was sought for a homicide that occurred on March 4, 2025, at about 3:00 am when Harvey was taken to Three Rivers Medical Center from the 1200 block of Rogue River Highway with significant head trauma but succumbed to his injuries several weeks later.
The investigation was transferred to the Major Crimes Unit, which identified Ross as the suspect, but police could not find him.
Grants Pass detectives conducted several interviews and used other investigative methods to build their case while actively seeking Ross, which led to the arrest of Ross, who was arrested without incident and lodged at the Josephine County Jail on charges of second-degree Murder and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
The family of the late Roy Harvey is pleased that the case is making progress. On Facebook, Lori Yochelson posted, “Finally! My father can get some justice! This whole case was handled very poorly and I watched my father suffer because of the actions of this man. He is in custody now so they better keep him.”
The Grants Pass Police indicated that further questions about this case should be directed to the Josephine County District Attorney’s Office.
