Gregory Thurson, a 64-Year-Old Man, Arrested in Oregon for a Murder Committed 43 Years Ago
The arraignment of a 64-year-old Eugene resident in connection with a murder that took place in Indiana 43 years ago will likely be heard today.
Gregory Thurson was extradited to the midwestern state after his arrest on October 29 in connection with a 1981 murder in Griffith, Indiana, classified as a cold case.
No Details of the Murder have Been Disclosed
Details of the homicide have not been released, and a detective from the Griffith Police Department said there would be no details released until a probable cause affidavit was made public.
After his arrest, Thurson was detained in the Lane County Jail until his extradition to Indiana on November 9. His arraignment is likely to be held today (Tuesday, November 12).
According to court records in Indiana, Thurson was wanted by police in 1994 on three counts of battery. A warrant was issued for his arrest, but it was not until 1997 that he was arrested in Salt Lake City, Utah. However, he was not extradited.
In 2000, Thurson was again arrested on that warrant in Vida, Oregon, but once again was not extradited.
In 2006, he was arrested on the same warrant in Alabama, and yet again was not extradited.
The warrant was dismissed in 2016.
