Gunfire In Medford: Crater Lake Road Rage Suspect Arrested

MEDFORD, Ore. — Officers from the Medford Police Department (MPD) responded to the 2100 block of Crater Lake Avenue on Thursday, January 16, following reports of a road rage incident involving a handgun.

The suspect, Brandon Blackwell, 34, of Medford, had threatened victims before leaving, only to return 30 minutes later. Police traced and arrested the suspect the following day.

 

Suspect Arrested In Crater Lake Road Rage Incident

MPD officers obtained statements from victims who indicated that a man had threatened them with a firearm on Crater Lake Road before leaving the area.

Police searched the area without finding the suspect, and a victim contacted police again 30 minutes later, indicating that the same person had returned. After a verbal exchange, the suspect fired a gun from his vehicle as he left.

Officers confirmed that no one was injured in the incident. The victim gave a description of the vehicle and provided a photo of the license plate. MPD officers identified the suspect as Blackwell, a convicted felon.

The firearm believed to have been used in the incident was later recovered and seized.

Police located Blackwell at a property on Gilman Road in Medford early on Friday morning. After surrounding the location and making announcements, Blackwell exited the building. He was taken into custody and lodged at the Jackson County Jail on charges of Menacing, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and felony Possession of a Firearm.

The Jackson County District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case under case number MPD 25-905.
