Helfrich to deliver commencement address Saturday

Southern Oregon University’s 2015 graduation ceremony on Saturday, June 13, at Raider Stadium, will include a commencement address by University of Oregon head football coach and SOU alum Mark Helfrich.
The school’s 89th commencement is scheduled to begin with the processional at 8:45 a.m. followed by the 9 a.m. ceremony.
Helfrich will follow a greeting by Bill Thorndike of the Oregon State Board of Higher Education. After that, awards will be handed out honoring the top two undergraduate students and the top two graduate students.
Helfrich graduated from Southern Oregon University when it was named Southern Oregon State College in 1996. He began his coaching career as a running backs coach for the Raiders in ’96 and in 2013 was named Oregon’s head coach. Helfrich, who was an NAIA Scholar Athlete in ’93, led the Ducks to the national championship game in his second season at the helm.
