Facebook users have speculated that there may be illegal marijuana operators in the area, but no official comment has been made on the reasons.

Aside from spikes, people have also come across wires strung across roads and trails in the area.

These booby traps can be almost impossible to spot. The agency requests anyone with information about the spiked boards and similar things to contact the Grants Pass Interagency Office at 541-471-6500 or the Wild Rivers Ranger District at 541-592-4000.
