International Fugitive’s Six-Year Run Crumbles as He Lands Back in Oregon After His Arrest in Cambodia
JOSEPHINE COUNTY, Ore. — Josephine County Sheriff’s Office deputies took delivery of Shawn Christian Higbee, 41, yesterday after he had been arrested by United States Marshals Service (USMS) officers in December in Cambodia on a 2019 arrest warrant for the charge of Sodomy 1.
A Crime Analyst attached to the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office working with the USMS over the last several months attempted to find the wanted subject, as a warrant had been issued for his arrest in 2019.
Higbee evaded apprehension, but the analyst discovered that he had fled to Cambodia several years ago.
After Higbee’s exact location was pinpointed in Cambodia, the information was relayed to the USMS, who turned the information over to their international apprehension team.
Higbee was taken into custody on December 17 and lodged in a Cambodian jail awaiting extradition back to the United States.
The USMS then retrieved Higbee from Cambodia and took him to San Francisco, CA. He was subsequently picked up by Josephine County Sheriff’s Office deputies, who lodged the fugitive in the Josephine County Adult Jail.
After about 6 years on the run, justice has caught up with the international fugitive, and Higbee will now face prosecution after the long arm of the law caught up with him.
