Jackson County Highway 140 Crash Results In 1 Fatality And 2 Injuries

JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. — A collision between two vehicles on Highway 140 in Jackson County near milepost 31 on Thursday afternoon claimed the life of one person and left two others injured.

Emergency responders from the Oregon State Police (OSP) at a crash that occurred at about 2:58 p.m. established that the driver of an eastbound Chevrolet Colorado driven by 42-year-old Fabiola Salcedo of Dorris, California lost control of the vehicle.

As the Chevrolet spun into the westbound lane, the passenger side was hit by a Subaru Forester driven by 74-year-old Danny Ray Ebert of La Pine, Oregon. 77-year-old Phyllis Ann Ebert, also of La Pine was a passenger in the Subaru.

The Jackson County Fire District 3, the Lakecreek Fire Department, and the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) assisted at the scene where was pronounced dead. The occupants of the Subaru sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious and were transported to a nearby Medford hospital for treatment.

As authorities conducted their investigation, the section of Highway 140 where the crash occurred was closed for approximately 2.5 hours and initial findings suggest that speed and road conditions were contributing factors.

The investigation into the Highway 140 crash is ongoing.
