Jackson County Police Highway 140 Stop: One Ton of Illegal Marijuana Seized

JACKSON COUNTY, Ore — Over a ton of illegal marijuana marked as hemp was found in a vehicle and seized by police during an Eagle Point traffic stop on Highway 140 last Friday.

 

K9 Officer Uncovers Illegal Marijuana At Police Stop

Close to Eagle Point’s Salt Creek Road, officers pulled over a white Mercedes Sprinter van for traffic violations on  Friday evening, according to reports by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

The vehicle had Georgia number plates. The Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Team was alerted by a K9 narcotics officer during the stop. As a result, a search of the vehicle was undertaken. Over 2,200 pounds of processed marijuana were found in the vehicle packed in 43 boxes.

Paperwork reflecting that the shipment was hemp was handed to officers by the driver of the van. After testing, it was established that- according to police, over 17% THC was found in the leafy green substance.

The Jackson County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing criminal charges as the investigation continues. Further information will be published when it is made available.
