Klamath Falls Man Arrested and Charged For Ashland Shooting
ASHLAND, Ore. — Responding to a complaint involving a handgun in the vicinity of Faith Street and Ashland Street, officers from the Ashland Police Department entered the home of the complainant on March 12 at approximately 8:19 p.m. The victim told them that a known suspect had discharged two rounds from a handgun in their direction.
On arresting the suspect, law enforcement officials recovered two handguns in the suspect’s possession. So far, authorities have not been able to determine where the shots fired at the scene landed.
Two Shots Fired In Ashland Home
The victim’s statement to law enforcement reveals that they were allegedly confronted by the suspect, who then fired two rounds in their direction from a handgun. No injuries or property damage were reported arising from the incident. Initial attempts by responding officers to locate the suspect, 24-year-old Kyle Anthony Smith, were unsuccessful but he was eventually located in Ashland.
Smith now faces charges of Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Menacing, but as the investigation remains ongoing, anyone who has any further information should contact the Ashland Police Department.
Arrest For Menacing In Ashland Shooting
In subsequent police investigations that led to the apprehension of the suspect, he was arrested at his home near Emigrant Lake on Highway 66 and taken into custody without further incidents. Court records reflect that Smith has no prior charges, except traffic violations, but he has now been charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Menacing.
The case was handled by the department’s Criminal Investigation Division and Smith is now lodged at the Jackson County Jail.
