After setting out at 7 a.m. on Saturday, September 28th, a hiker managed to get to the top of the trail but then got lost on his way back down the mountain.

He called his girlfriend at around 5 p.m. and she passed his call for help to emergency services. The Jackson Country Search and Rescue team extracted him by 9:30 p.m. and by 12:30 a.m. they returned him to his vehicle.

SAR Sergeant Sean Richards took the opportunity to remind those undertaking the tougher and longer hikes to be extra prepared.  This includes taking more water than necessary, layers of moisture-wicking clothes, a rain shell, and a good trail map on the hike.
