Medford Joins Oregon’s Wave of Anti-Trump Protests Against Federal Cuts and Policies
MEDFORD, Ore. — As anti-Trump sentiments sweep across Oregon, rallies are being held across the state as citizens protest against federal government cuts and policies. Two big protests took place in Medford.
Medford Rallies Protest Trump Policies
Medford joined the protestors demanding change at more than 1,200 events unfolding across the United States. Two recent Medford anti-Trump rallies that took place were:
- ‘Hands Off!’ at Hawthorne Park: Almost 4,000 people gathered to protest federal policies they believe are detrimental to their communities. Marching through the streets, protesters called for a shift in leadership and a focus on issues they see as important.
- 5051 Remove Reverse Reclaim at Vogel Plaza: Several hundred people expressed concerns about the administration’s policies, especially regarding healthcare, social services, and civil rights protections.
Oregon Cities Protest Trump Policies
As protests continue across the nation, people across the political spectrum are talking about the role of government, including in Oregon cities:
‘Hands Off!’ in Downtown Eugene: On April 5, thousands of people showed their unhappiness with the current administration by protesting the Trump administration, starting at Ferry Street Bridge and marching down to the Eugene City Hall.
The crowd was estimated at over 3,000, one of the highest numbers of participants for recent protests.
Protesters said they want the administration, including Elon Musk, to take their ‘hands off’ of the federal programs that have resulted in employee layoffs and funding cuts, showing their outrage at the lack of accountability in the administration.
‘Hands Off!’ In Portland: Trump’s decision to impose a 10 percent baseline tariff on imports from most U.S. trading partners sparked protests. Groups in downtown Portland, Selwood, Hillsboro, Beaverton, and Tigard gathered to protest. At the same time, President Trump spent the day on the golf course.
Oregon’s U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., reposted a post from Chuck Schumer on X saying, ” Billionaires win, American families lose.”
This is the Republican agenda, plain and simple:

American families lose— Chuck Schumer (@SenSchumer) April 4, 2025
