Medford Man Stabbed with a Wall Display Sword

MEDFORD, Ore. — A Medford man was stabbed with a wall display sword in what the police have described as an attempted murder.

The stabbing took place in the late afternoon on Thursday at the 1000 block of Beatty Street.

On arrival, Medford Police found the victim on the front porch of the property, suffering from wounds to his arms, neck, and head. He was treated on the scene by the MPD and Medford Fire before he was transported to the hospital by Mercy Flights.

Marzelle Omari Tyree Culver (24) is in custody in the Jackson County Jail. Police confirmed that Tyree admitted to the attack, saying he had stabbed the victim after being told that he was no longer welcome at the residence.

Culver is facing charges of attempted murder, first-degree assault, first-degree attempted assault, and first-degree burglary.

A woman living at the residence told police that she had witnessed the attack. She said Culver had grabbed a sword displayed on a wall inside the house and had used it to stab the victim. The woman said that Culver had also tried to attack her but that she had managed to run into another room before he fled.

Culver was arrested at Riverside and 10th Street, and Lieutenant Don Lane confirmed that police took possession of the weapon.

The victim is in hospital in a stable condition.
