Medford Police Citizens Academy Course Open For Registrations

MEDFORD, Ore. — The Medford Police Department (MPD) 2025 Citizens Academy 11-week course is now open for applications.

The Academy was established to enhance relationships between the community and the police, and to give community members a better understanding of law enforcement. Applications must reach the department by.5:00PM 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟯𝟬, but will close early if the class is filled.

 

MPD 2025 Citizens Academy Applications Invited

Developed to give community members to understand the challenges and actions of the MPD, the Citizens Academy course is geared towards improving relations between citizens and police.

The course is also a chance for police officers to get to know community members better and learn about their needs.

Subjects such as criminal investigation and prosecution of cases, recruitment, general administration and philosophy of services, and K9 and SWAT Programs,are includes in the course which starts on January 1 and runs though March 12 with classes every Wednesday night.

Applicants must live or work within the City of Medford and be at least 18 years old.

Authorization to conduct a criminal background investigation must be submitted with applications and must clear, without convictions for felonies or any misdemeanor arrest in the past 12 months.

Potential students can access the MPD Citizens Academy application online, which should be returned to the MPD Training Co-ordinator.

The documents submitted become the property of MPD. Because of the sensitive nature of law enforcement, MPD reserves the right to decline any application.
