Medford Volunteers Needed To Pack Meals For Hungry Children In Pacific Ring And Haiti
MEDFORD, Ore. — The annual meal-packing event held by Rogue Valley Mobile Pack (RMP) is taking place this Friday and Saturday in Medford, and the initiative needs more volunteers.
It is an opportunity for community members to help food insecure children in parts of the Caribbean and Southeast Asia, but the event promises to be fun.
Annual Meal Packing Event In Medford
A collaboration between community members and the Christian nonprofit Feed My Starving Children, RMP packs and distributes “manna packs,” or meals for hungry children in villages in Haiti and the Philippines.
This is the sixth year the event is running and will be held at the First Baptist Church, 649 Crater Lake Avenue, Medford.
Volunteers will work alongside friends and family, co-workers, teammates, and church members in sessions that last just under 2 hours. Children of 5 and up can also volunteer and there are also sitting positions available.
There are three different sessions to choose from but all volunteers must register online on the RMP website before the event. The are also sponsorship opportunities for businesses and families.
RMP’s mission is to give families and individuals in the Rogue Valley a way to play a part in feeding the hungry around the world. One of the event initiators, Jason Licado, confirmed that the event doesn’t exclude anybody.
He said, “It’s really something that the family can do together and start to build that generational idea of serving. It’s a great opportunity to bring the whole family.”
