Middle Fork Fire 52% Contained As Firefighting Continues

KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore — The US Forest Service indicated in its latest report that the Middle Fork Fire now covers 5,286 acres and is 52% contained.

 

Status Of Middle Fork Fire

The Middle Fork Fire- which started east of Chiloquin, has not been doused. The latest reports indicate:

  • Containment: 52%
  • Acreage: 5,286
  • Road Closures: The highways are not included in the forest road closures but up-to-date road conditions can be found here.
  • Evacuations: TBA

 

Firefighting Efforts:  Firefighters continue to patrol the north and east sides of the fire’s path where heat is scattered across the interior.

Suppression and repair work on trails within Crater Lake National Park and along Highway 230 will continue as crews haul the timber cut during suppression operations.

Middle Fork Fire Affects Crater Lake

The North entrance to Crater Lake National Park was open temporarily over the Labor Day weekend but is now closed to all traffic to enable firefighters to resume fire-related hazard reduction work. The park is still open and can be accessed through the South Entrance.
