Middle Fork Fire Update: 70% Contained, Covers 5,286 acres

KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore — The latest U.S. Forestry Service news release indicates that the Middle Fork Fire covers 5,286 acres and is 70% contained.

 

Some Areas Still Closed Due To Middle Fork Fire

The service has urged people in the area to slow down and drive carefully in the vicinity of firefighter activity for everyone’s safety. They warned that today roads will be slick and debris flows are possible.

Closures in the area- including roads and trails remain in place, and the public has been warned not to enter closed areas or drive around barriers.

To allow firefighter traffic, entire roadways may not be blocked, but areas are closed because of dangerous conditions such as falling trees, heavy equipment, and road grading,

The Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) indicated that no areas of concern were revealed by a reconnaissance flight over the fire area on Monday. On the Pacific Crest Trail crews have finished repairing firelines. No evacuation orders are currently in place.
