Motorcyclist Dies In Crash On I-5 In Central Point
JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. — A motorcycle seen by multiple witnesses to be traveling recklessly on the I-5 north on Friday morning crashed near milepost 34 at 10:53 AM, killing the rider.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) indicated that a JCSO deputy clocked the motorcycle traveling more than 100 miles per hour on I-5 at milepost 30.
The deputy activated his siren and lights to initiate a traffic stop. Still, the motorcyclist continued at a high rate of speed before crashing into a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) at milepost 34.
Jackson County Fire District 3 responded to the emergency call with and Mercy Flights, but the rider was pronounced deceased at the scene.
As the next of kin has not yet been notified, the identity of the deceased has not been released. The JCSO Case number is 24-6731. Oregon State Police (OSP) is leading the investigation and will provide further information in due course.
