Motorcyclist Killed In Douglas County Highway Crash
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore — An early morning collision in Douglas County, Oregon turned fatal on Monday, September 9, 2024. Two vehicles collided on Highway 138E- near milepost 18, about one mile east of Glide and the driver of one of the vehicles- a motorcycle, died on the scene.
Motorcyclist Dies In Highway Crash Outside Glide
Oregon State Police responded to the crash at 6:07 a.m. and a preliminary investigation indicates that a red Yamaha motorcycle traveling westbound on Hwy. 138E collided head-on with a white Jeep Cherokee. The crash occurred in the westbound lane.
Driven by Randolph Lee Belloir, 66, of Roseburg, the Jeep was traveling eastbound and had turned left into the motorcycle’s path. The motorcyclist, Thomas Lee Bailey, 38, of Idleyld Park, was pronounced dead at the scene. Belloir was uninjured and cooperated fully with law enforcement.
The highway closed for about three hours for investigation resulting in significant traffic disruptions. The Glide Fire Department, the Oregon Department of Transportation, and the National Park Service assisted the Oregon State Police at the scene.
The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by authorities.
