Myrtle Creek Man Dies In Motorcycle Accident

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. — An accident on Friday night, October 11 at around 10:30 p.m., claimed the life of a Myrtle Creek man on Riddle Bypass Road.

After emergency dispatchers received a report of a crash near the intersection of Riddle Bypass Road and E Street, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) deputies with fire and ambulance personnel responded to the scene.

The DCSO said the incident involved a motor vehicle- a 2007 Toyota Tacoma, driven by 81-year-old Warren Currier of Riddle, and a motorcycle- a 2024 Ninja Kawasaki motorcycle which was operated by 20-year-old Gage Matthews of Myrtle Creek.

According to reports, Currier traveling southbound on Riddle Bypass Road when he attempted to make a left turn onto E Street but collided with the northbound motorcycle during the turn. C

urrier sustained injuries and was transported to Mercy Medical Center for treatment but the driver of the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

While deputies conducted an investigation the road was closed for about five hours. The Riddle Fire District, Umpqua Valley Ambulance, and the Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office also assisted.
