Mystery Poachers Slaughter Juvenile Blacktail Deer in Oregon’s Tillamook Forest Sparking Urgent Police Hunt
The Fish and Wildlife Division (ODFW) of the Oregon State Police (OSP) has appealed to the public for help identifying the perpetrator/s of the unlawful killing of two juvenile blacktail deer on March 17 in the Tillamook forest in Clatsop County, Oregon.
2 Juveniles Blacktail Deers Killed In Clatsop County
Fish and Wildlife troopers were in attendance at the North Fork Wolf Creek Shooting Lanes on Tillamook State Forest property, within the Saddle Mountain Wildlife Management Unit, approximately 35 miles east of Seaside.
They inspected two juvenile blacktail deer that had been shot and collected evidence at the scene.
Police ask anyone who was at the shooting range around March 17 and saw anything or has any information to assist in this investigation by contacting:

Reward Offered For Reporting Wildlife Violators
A collaboration between OSP, Oregon Hunters Association, ODFW, Oregon Wildlife Coalition,
Oregon Outfitter and Guides Association, and the Oregon State Marine Board, the Turn In Poachers (TIP) program gives informants preference point for information that leads to an arrest or issuance of a citation for the unlawful take/possession or waste of big game mammals as a reward.
Regarding the blacktail deer, 4 points will be allocated for this information.
The Oregon Hunters Association (OHA) also offers cash rewards- including $1,000 for Elk, Deer, or Antelope, and the Oregon Wildlife Coalition (OWC) Cash Rewards on offer include the following:
- $11,500 for Wolves east of Highway 395 or north of Highway 20
- $10,000 for Wolves east of Highway 395
- $1,000 Species listed as “threatened” or “endangered” under state or federal Endangered Species Act (excluding fish)
- $500 Cougar, Bobcat, Beaver (on public lands only), Black bears, Bighorn Sheep, Fisher, Marten, Sierra Nevada Red Fox
- $500 Hawk, Falcon, Eagle, Owl, Osprey
